The Plant Journey Begins… again.

I have two black thumbs. Not one, but two. It seems that every plant I ever buy dies. Why? I have no clue. I gave the plant everything it needed. I gave it love, sun, water, and even made sure it was pest free. But in the end, the plant did not love me back.

My parents have green thumbs. They can grow anything and everything. Even when there is no sun in sight. Okay… maybe I’m exaggerating, but you get my drift. They had vegetable gardens for years from which we ate from regularly. They also had regular plant gardens, indoor and outdoor plants. And yet, I can’t even keep a lucky bamboo stalk alive! (Current lifetime death count: approx 5)

Where the hell is this green thumb gene? And why have I not inherited it? Maybe it skipped a generation? Or maybe it’s something that’s learned? Either way, I will have plants… living ones for that matter. And I will *try* not to kill it. How? Because I’m a grown adult! Plus, I’ve also done a bunch of research and asked many questions.

So here’s to my deceased plants, my current plants, and my future plants.
I will do my best.

Hi! My name is…

Hey There!
My name is Paula and I have two black thumbs.

What does having two black thumbs mean? It means I kill every plant I have ever owned. No matter how easy to take care of or how unkillable a plant is. You want to wish it death (for some unknown reason)? Give it to me. I’m the grim keeper of plants.

The ongoing joke in my family is that my dog Bailey wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for my mom. Thanks, mom!

Typical family convo:
Me: **buys a new plant and does a happy dance**
Family: Let’s see how long this one survives.
Me: **sad face / pout**

Since I can’t keep a plant alive, I often admire them from afar. I love going to the botanical gardens or arboretum. Seeing nature in its natural state, alive and pretty.

Despite all of these obstacles, mainly me… I’m the obstacle!
My 2018 goal is to keep at least one plant alive for an entire year.

Let’s see what happens on this journey. Here’s to keeping a plant alive.
**Cheers**
